Why I built Binaural Studio
Binaural beats occupy a strange corner of the internet. The underlying phenomenon is real and over a century old: play a slightly different frequency into each ear, and your auditory system manufactures a rhythmic beat that isn't in either channel. That part is physics and physiology, and it's genuinely fascinating.
Then you search for it, and you're buried in galaxy-brain thumbnails promising DNA repair, manifestation frequencies, and cures for everything from anxiety to arthritis.
I wanted the other version. A generator that's precise and pleasant to use, that tells you what the research actually says — including the unflattering parts — and that treats you like an adult running a low-stakes experiment on your own attention.
What's here
The Studio is the core: binaural beats and isochronic tones, adjustable carrier and beat frequencies, white/pink/brown noise, guided journeys that ramp frequencies over a session, and WAV export so you can take a session offline. Everything runs locally in your browser. There's no account, nothing is uploaded, and nothing is tracked.
The Uses guides start from what you're trying to do — focus, meditate, sleep, walk — and pair each intent with sensible settings and the studies behind them. The Research page is a curated feed of actual published work, each entry summarized in my own words with a plain-language rating of how strong the evidence is.
The deal
I'll never tell you a frequency cures anything, because none of them do. What I will tell you is what a study found, how good the study was, and how to try the same thing yourself in about four clicks. If that honest version of this tool is what you've been looking for — welcome.
