Build a listening session from the signal up
Binaural Studio is a free browser-based tool for creating binaural beats and isochronic tones. You can control the beat rate, the audible carrier pitch, tone volume, and optional white, pink, or brown noise. Guided journeys change selected settings gradually over a defined session.
The controls are transparent by design. A label such as “10 Hz alpha” tells you the beat rate, not a guaranteed mental state. The Studio lets you hear the construction, change one variable at a time, and decide what is useful for your own listening routine.
How to use the generator

Choose a mode
Use binaural mode with stereo headphones. Choose isochronic mode if you want one tone that pulses at a regular rate and can also work through speakers.

Set the beat frequency
Start with a preset or move the slider from 1 to 40 Hz. The band indicator shows where the selected rate sits within the commonly used frequency ranges.

Adjust the sound
Change the carrier tone to make the audible pitch higher or lower. Add background noise if the raw sine tones feel too exposed, then keep the overall volume low and comfortable.

Use the live generator for a session, choose a guided journey, or render the settings as a WAV file for offline listening.
What “pure tones” means here
The Studio creates sine waves with the browser's Web Audio API. In acoustics, a pure tone is a sinusoidal wave at one frequency without the extra harmonics that give instruments their more complex timbre.
In binaural mode, each stereo channel receives its own sine wave. In isochronic mode, a sine-wave carrier is made louder and quieter at the selected beat rate. Adding white, pink, or brown noise intentionally makes the final mix more complex.
“Pure” describes the starting waveform. It does not mean the tone is more powerful, therapeutic, or effective than other audio. Headphones, device output, listening volume, and the listener can all change the experience.
Choosing a beat frequency
Beat frequencies are often grouped under delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma labels because those ranges share names with patterns discussed in EEG research. That naming convention does not mean a 10 Hz track automatically places the brain into an alpha state.
A practical starting point is to choose one setting, use it during a defined activity, and notice whether the complete listening setup helps. On another session, compare it with silence, ordinary music, or background noise alone. Studio questions
Do binaural beats require headphones?
Yes. Binaural mode sends a different tone to each ear, so stereo headphones or earbuds are needed to keep the channels separate. Isochronic mode pulses one tone and can be heard through speakers or headphones.
What does the carrier tone change?
The carrier is the audible pitch underneath the beat. Raising it makes the session sound higher; lowering it makes the session sound deeper. It does not change the selected beat frequency.
What do the frequency presets mean?
The presets choose beat rates that fall within commonly discussed delta, theta, alpha, and beta ranges. Those labels are useful for navigation, but they do not guarantee focus, sleep, relaxation, or any other result.
Can I download the tones?
Yes. The Studio can render the current settings or a selected journey as a stereo WAV file. The file is created on your device, and manually configured exports can be 1 to 30 minutes long.
