The fastest band — associated with moments of intense processing, and the frontier where entrainment research is thinnest.

Gamma refers to fast oscillations above roughly 30 Hz. In neuroscience it's discussed in connection with binding together perception across brain regions, attention, and working memory — and it's also the band where measurement is hardest and hype runs furthest ahead of evidence.

What people use it for

Gamma sessions are popular in "peak performance" circles, usually around a 40 Hz beat. The honest summary: the research on auditory gamma entrainment for cognitive benefit in healthy adults is sparse and early. Some interesting work exists on 40 Hz sensory stimulation in laboratory settings, but it's a long way from "listen to this and think faster."
